Our cosy log burner will keep you warm while you try some of our seasonal dishes, for January we will be baking, making and cooking all your favourites, from our staple cakes; Victoria, Coffee and Walnut to some guest appearances; chocolate fudge cake, spiced apple cake, the list goes on.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Remember to recycle your xmas trees, for a small donation www.farleighhospice.org will collect your tree and recycle it, an alternative to this would be to donate them to the Elephants at Colchester Zoo!
Treat yourself to our famous full English breakfast, all locally sourced from the bread to the sausages… if you fancy something sweet to lift your January spirits try our maple drenched pancakes with whipped cream and fresh berries alternatively try our lower calorific options, have poached eggs instead of fried for those on their January diets.

For lunches there is always something for everyone, don’t forget to look on the “specials” board it changes daily, seasonal soups are always popular at this time of year.
January is the time to clean out your pots and greenhouse ready for the Spring. Try “Dead fast greenhouse fumigator” available in store, to kill any lurking pests and diseases from the previous year. Ensure any tender plants are protected well against the winter elements, use bubble wrap or protective frost fleece, available at Butts Green Garden Centre. Check those tree stakes are secure in the ground in case of windy days.
